Today Just Happens - 6/17/25
Your daily dose of NYT Games, sports, politics, and life in general.
Welcome back everyone and happy Tuesday! If this is your first time here, I’ll be covering my review of today’s NYT Wordle and Connections in addition to commentary on current events I find intriguing. I encourage you to leave your thoughts (and game results) in the comments below to keep the conversation going.
Without further adieu….
NYT Connections
Puzzle #737

Wow, today was one of the easier puzzles I can remember in a long time. We like those sometimes, don’t we? Helps us get out of bed easier, makes the coffee taste a little sweeter, and dampens the stress of logging into work for the day. While Purple just happened for me, it’s very straightforward and visitors to this popular theme park in Orlando will have no problem solving it. Enjoy this easy layup!

Wordle was a little trickier than Connections today, but by no means impossible. For some reason I thought we already had this as a solution, which would be apropos for the word. My starting word of ROATE revealed only a couple clues to start, so I had to rely on good old fashioned phonics for my next guess. My clue: tricksters’ tool.
In the News
Israel/Iran Conflict Intensifies
Far be it from me to fully understand the complexities of international conflict and politics, but something feels very different about the escalating situation between Israel and Iran.
As someone who obviously relies on news headlines from afar to understand the conflict, all signs indicate this is going to get very, very, very bad. If that sounds like fear mongering in some way… well, that’s because I’m legitimately scared. Whenever phrases like “missiles struck a nuclear base” are reported my concern tends to be rather high.
The news today was that our President is being forced to leave the G7 Summit early to “deal with the conflict” as opposed to being kicked out because everyone hates him. Which, to be fair, would have been my guess, but I digress.
I don’t know how long this situation will continue nor how it will resolve, but I think we all agree that a peaceful solution is always best. Sadly, I have zero faith that our POTUS will be the global leader we need him to be in this moment.
Golfers, Save Some Cash!
I’ll also use this newsletter to share news from various brands I’ve worked with in the past to pass along savings to my readers. For example, if you (or someone you know) is a golfer, check out my friends at TRUELinkswear.com to learn more about the best footwear in the game. Use promo code ADAM15 at checkout to save 15% on your first order, too.
That’s all for now, folks. Thanks again for stopping by and see you tomorrow!
Wordle: Got it in 3. Could have gotten it in 2, but chose wrong starting letter. Started with RAISE.
Connections: Perfect today with purple first. 💜💛💙💚
